Top 5 Reasons Why Freelancers Need Private Clients (Guest Post)

If you're in freelancing for keeps, you need private clients, period. Every single serious freelancer has to make private clients and direct deals a priority in their business. The truth is, your chances are going to be mighty slim otherwise.
Here's a brief look at the five top reasons why YOU should be grinding it out every day, advertising yourself and making yourself known to potential private clients.

eLance, Fiverr, oDesk, Guru. What do all these freelance sites have in common? They charge you or your client extra.
On most professional freelance sites, like eLance and oDesk, you'll find that the client is charged extra. For example, if you do a job for $100, on eLance the client gets charged $100 + 8.75%.
When you deal directly with clients, and he pays the money upfront straight to your PayPal account (or whatever e-payment system you use), you don't get charged, and he doesn't either. It's a win-win.
Over at Fiverr, they take a 20% cut of whatever job you do. So, in reality, you're earning a measly $4 per gig (provided that no extras were purchased). Again, when you deal directly with clients, you're not losing out, and neither is he.

Dealing directly with private clients allows you to build a better relationship. You get to know each other (a little bit), you exchange e-mail addies, maybe even connect via social media; when you use a third-party program, you don't get to do all these things.
When you build a relationship with your client, he/she is more likely to realize that your services are an essential part of his/her business. Thus, they'll always have you at the back of their mind, and there's as much greater chance of them coming back to you, and giving you all their related work. In the long run, it's much more profitable to have ten clients who give you all their work, than a thousand who give you a job once and never come back.
Building relationships is the way to go.

3. Moolah
Yep, moolah is just another word for money.
Private clients are much more likely to pay you more for the same amount of work, for two reasons:
- When clients  use eLance/oDesk, most of the time they'll be going for the lowest-paid Philippino (no offense intended0.
- Since they get to know you better, they don't mind paying more. They know your quality of work, and they will actually pay you exactly what you deserve.
Number one, by the way, is just an inescapable fact. It's just true. Sorry, fellas. Number two is also true. When they get to know you, they're more comfortable giving larger amounts of money since they KNOW that you're gonna do a good job and not rip them off.

When you talk to and give a sales pitch to a client privately, there's no competition. There's nobody else around to spoil your chances.
With freelance sites, there's almost always a bidding process happening (excepting Fiverr). Especially for writing jobs, there will normally be close to 30 people bidding, all on the same project. That works out to approximately 3.3%, but it's more likely closer to 1% if you don't have any reviews.
When you deal directly with clients, you're the only one in the picture. Just you, and nobody else. You can set your prices, explain your work and the rest without having to worry about what others are bidding.
Needless to say, this raises the chances of getting hire pretty significantly.

When you do freelancing the private client way, what you know have is a sustainable business model. Something that is both ensured to work, and something that can be profitable enough for you to make a decent living at it.
Once you find your client, it's just a matter of rinse and repeat. And ultimately, this is gonna allow you to achieve the "work from home, work whenever and wherever" lifestyle you really want.

Summing Up
I would highly recommend that you switch to working for private clients, if you haven't already. Yes, eLance might seem great for now, but ultimately it's not gonna work out. 99% of the guys making a living online deal directly with private clients. It's up to you, now.

20 Best Ways To Get Freelance Writing Clients (Assignments) : Part 1

Information is flooding everywhere. You just type a single keyword and you will get millions of results. This will help you understand the scope of writing and of freelance writers. By this, I do not mean to mention that any 'this or that' sort of so-called writer can make a good career, not at all. Like any other field, Writing also needs quality writers like you.

Considering the number of quality writers present around, it becomes very important for each of us to have a good number of clients who will give us work. They have options, so they need a reason from you to hire you for their services. The reason will definitely have to be created by you, isn't it? (Your quality content and unique writing style)

Let me help you with 20 best experimented and well-researched ways to get freelance writing clients.

1. Write For Top Bloggers
This is something which will rarely be advertised properly. There are a lot of top bloggers who pay for a quality content written for their blog.
How do I know whether they pay? You will surely see this mentioned somewhere on their blog. You will have to spend few minutes on it to understand this. If it is not mentioned anywhere and you want to give it a try, drop an email (you will find it mentioned in 'Contact Us' or something like this) asking if they are looking for paid blogger. No one will kill you for that.
Why do they need this? Nice question! I am sure you might be thinking that the top bloggers already have many people ready to write as a guest blogger for free, then why would they need to pay someone for the same. Logically, you are right, but practically not. Having many interested guest bloggers will not guarantee the quality content. With the increasing number of promotion-hungry bloggers, it becomes very difficult for the top bloggers to moderate each and every post and to check on the quality. They would rather get free from this headache by offering financial benefits to quality contributors. It will not be wrong to mention that financial benefits will make you more serious towards writing quality content.
How much do they pay? It is all case-specific. Some of the top bloggers can pay up to $80 for each quality post, whereas there are some who can pay $5 for the same. You need to take care of the fact that you cannot be greedy specially when you have just started it. Remember that it takes time, you cannot do it overnight.
2. Google It
Am I kidding? I know that you know this very well. Not many bloggers will use Google properly to search for writing clients. You need to search with different keywords and various combinations of it. Google make things very easy when you want to look for anything. It is not humanly possible for anyone to search for their requirement in a specific website.
Some of the most used keywords while looking for writing clients include "guest blogger wanted", "freelance writer wanted", "article writer wanted", "quality writer wanted", "paid writer wanted". Google It now.
3. Get Referred By Other Blogger Friends
Why will anyone refer you when everyone is racing to get more and more work? It does not work this way. When I started blogging, the first thing which happened accidentally was to get in touch with other bloggers. We exchanged some emails, over Skype calls, and we got kind of friends. Perfect networking, I say.
Though my only intention to network with them was to learn some more about blogging and various areas which can be covered (I was zero in Blogging). After some days of being in good network with those bloggers, one of them emailed me to know my interest in writing for one of his clients. She was not able to take that assignment as she was over packed with work from other clients. She decided to passed it on to me, I happily took it, completed it with lot of nervousness (since it was my first paid assignment), and found that client was delighted with my work.
That ways I had one client in my kitty who could give me more work. A simple networking worked for me. Try it as it might work for you too.
4. Sell Yourself On Your Blog
I know that you have been working day and night to promote your blog/website. Some of you have already started getting good results after implementing some very important suggestions posted earlier on Make A Living Writing. Why not you use a special corner on your website to promote yourself. Convey to all your readers that they can hire you for any required services. When they know it, there are more chances to get hired. Isn't it?

7 Best Answers To 'I Am New To Writing. How Can I Make A Living Writing?'

I admit that over the last couple months, I have been a sloth in posting all these useful and important posts for you. Here I am, to give Make A Living Writing a new beginning with a new post coming for you on each Tuesday and Friday as per the Indian Standard Time (IST).

Without wasting more time from your precious schedule for today, I am going to talk to all my writer friends, specially the new ones, about how exactly you can start making a living writing.

You have been reading the old posts posted on the blog Make A Living Writing and you have a good resource of the websites which might help you making a living writing. No point repeating the same stuff here. Today I am going to mention some of the things which might help you in 'NOT MAKING A LIVING WRITING'. Yes, you need to take care of the below points if you are really serious about making this happen. So let's start!

1. You do not have Unique Content
I have been hearing this for last five years that I cannot make money from writing until I have something unique. That crap of an advice made me sit without blogging for months and then one fine day I just decided to go ahead with what I feel it should be all about. My first blog was about inspirational stuffs in my own words. Nothing unique in it, isn't it? There are thousands of similar blogs around, but the only unique thing about my blog was that it had 'I' writing.
So, you need not have to spend time thinking what UNIQUE thing you should be writing about. Just put your efforts and make it happen, ignore what others have to say.
2.  You do not like To Read
Even if you a preacher, you will realise some day that you do not have anything else to preach on. Reading is one of the most important thing when you talk about writing. No human has unlimited ideas. It is just the knowledge and inspiration which help you write more and more on new things. Do not kill your readers with the same stuff you know just because you do not like reading.
You should not read only on your niche, but others too. You can always take inference from anything you read, give it your taste, and write on it. Keep reading!
3. You do not like Competitions
Do not like competitions and that's why you want to start make a living writing? You can immediately start looking for other alternatives to make a living. You need to realise that with the ever increasing numbers of writers, any reader can access to millions of posts which are related to what he is looking for. That is where the competition comes in. Out of millions of similar posts, you need to make your content very clear and qualitative so that you can stand out and make money from it. Do not forget the first point I made in this post of making every content of yours tasting like it has 'I' in it.
4. You are not Creative
Creativity in writing? Are you kidding me? No Sir/Ma'm, I am not.
What are you planning to write on today? Just Google search a related keyword and you will find thousands of articles already posted on what you were thinking of. I am definitely not blaming you for kind of rewriting same content again and again because you really cannot help it. Believe it or not, you will have to do this at one point of time (specially during your first year of writing). That sort of rewriting does not help much in making money writing.
You have to keep thinking on the new areas you can touch upon. Some new concepts from the same thing you have been reading all these years. As I mentioned earlier, it is all about what you infer from what you read. If your knowledge base is good, you can think of something creative for sure.
5.  You are just a Writer
Please, please! Do not abuse me for calling you 'Just A Writer', I actually do not mean what you think (That's what I was talking about ;). You infer things from what you read; and here there can be multiple meanings. Isn't it?)
So what I am trying to tell you is that you should not be just a writer. That writer who can type 250+ letters per minute on the keyboard and finish the stuff in minutes. As you read in point number 2 above, competition is not when you type faster; it is when you think faster and better. That same creative concept you are writing on will make you different from others. That will help you differentiate yourself from other writers, when clients look for you. At the same time, you should know how to market yourself. Marketing? Let's talk about it in the next point.
6. You are not good at Marketing
"I read a lot. I just love competitions. I am Creative. I know how to differentiate myself from others. But still, I am not able to make much money. Why?"
That's the stage most of my fellow writer friends are at. Isn't it? Marketing yourself is very very important, but at the same time it is very very difficult. As they say, "Good things never comes cheap". You might be posting something really great post after post, but no one is actually reading it.
You can use different techniques of SEO to get your website higher PR. You can use some paid marketing services. You can even hire a freelancer to help you promote your website. Things are still not that easy. You have to take care that you are not over-doing it as that might actually hamper your image for clients. You cannot compromise on something lesser because that's when you are not making enough money. You have to use various analytics to keep a track on the growth of your website. That's not an easy process either.
My only suggestion for all those new writers is to promote the website on an average.
7.  You are a Sloth (Like I was in last couple months)
Anything, everything, you are writing about should be fast. Imagine that Best Buy has decided to offer first 10 customers on Christmas Day a brand new iPad 4. What are you going to do? Wait till evening thinking that you will still be one of those 10 lucky people? Something similar works in writing too. When you have something trending and you are too slow to write/think of writing on the same, you are not going to get that extra advantage.
Make yourself active and writer your creative content faster.

Do you still want me to take your time? Go for it and show what you are capable of. It all starts with you and ends with you because you write it for your readers, they read it, help you with some comments/feedback which ultimately helps you being better and stronger. Right?

For any questions you have, I am always there for you at akhil.khatri@alliancelive.com (direct contact). Considering the number of emails I receive daily, I will try my best to respond to your emails at the earliest. Hope you understand.

21 Most Inspirational And Biggest Benefits Of Blogging

There was a time when there was nothing called a 'Blog'. Today, there are thousands of them being created everyday. Some create it just because they want to see what happens after they click 'Create Blog', some create it just for fun, some do it for serious purpose, and so on.

As I would not want you to imagine the things which people consider while starting their blog, I have compiled a list of 21 most inspirational and biggest benefits of having a blog. Here they are:

1. Becoming Good Writer : Many of us start blogging without having good hand with writing (including me). After spending several months writing blog posts, the blogger actually finds himself becoming better and better in his writing.

2. Sharing Knowledge : I have seen people having a good specific knowledge which is not known to many people. Many bloggers create their blog for the purpose of sharing their knowledge. Cooking Blogs, Blogs on Expert advise, can be taken as an example for this.

3. Big Influence : With good content, you develop a good loyal base of readers. Once you have it, you have people who respect and follow you.

4. Becoming Expert : It may all start with a well known information, but not many people reach the level of expertise. Just by writing on 'Make A Living Writing' does not this blog a successful blog. I have to keep posting things which will be helpful for all of yous, plus will be something which you can find nowhere else. That's becoming an expert. Once you are an expert, you realize the benefits.

5. Networking : Believe it or not, network is something which we all wants to grow bigger and better.

6. SEO Improvement : With good content, you improve the SEO for your blog.

7. Build Email Base : Almost all of us check the emails daily and that's what makes emails as the best option to communicate. Having a lot of readers and comments and loyal base, gives you access to a lot of email IDs. You can communicate your relevant things to your readers via email. Do not SPAM.

8. Knowledge Base : You may not be having enough knowledge on what you are writing your blog on, but being regular to what you are writing, you ultimately gain knowledge of your subject.

9. Sell Your Product : Create a virtual store or link on the side of your blog and get your sales.

10. Start A New Business : Your blog which was created just for fun may turn into a new business tomorrow. I personally know many bloggers who started blogging just for fun for few hours in a week, but they are now writing full time making it their business. They are making $1000-$5000 a month easily.

11. Champion Researcher : That's something I just realized. I have been blogging since last 5 years on various blogs and I can promise one thing for sure. Be it anything you want, I can get it researched for you. That's what blogging made me.

12. Increased Creativity : Imagine yourself eating same food everyday. Same thing happens with your readers when you post your blog with similar content or tone. Keep surprising your readers with something out of the box. Regular bloggers generate this benefit,.

13. Making Money Through Advertisement Revenue : Google Adsense, Clicksor, many more. You can see my old post on 36 Best Websites For Revenue Generation

14. Social Sharing : Your website or Facebook Page or any other link will start getting more traffic if you have it linked to your popular blog.

15. Fame Game : Who will not like to become famous guy? If you are good at what you do, you can expect a big queue for your views always. People will start seeking advise and guidance from you.

16. Business Ventures : Do expect other business opportunities coming in for tie-up or merger or something even better.

17. Understand Your Readers : As you keep blogging and start tracking the comments, traffic sources, social shares, etc, you will understand what your readers are actually looking for (if you do not have it yet on your blog). Realizing that, you can keep them more engaged and loyal by giving them what they want.

18. Better Social Shares : If you have a fan page on Facebook or Twitter, then sharing quality content and links will definitely help you building better platforms on Facebook and Twitter, after all they are not there only for your stupid messages and personal photographs.

19. More And More Writing : The more you write, The more you write. Confusing? It is just like any other thing you are indulged in. If you will write a lot, you will actually end up writing more and more and will ultimately love it.

20. Inspire Others : People who have been following you, will definitely want to start something what you did. It will inspire many people to start posting quality content.

21. Satisfy Yourself : I write to satisfy myself. I always wanted to be more on a social side than on preaching side. That is the only reason why Make A Living Writing came into existence.

10+ Best Websites To Sell Your Articles On

Many of my writer friends have been writing articles for last 5+ years. Apart from having a lot of experience and expertise in their writing niche, what they have is thousands of unused articles. These articles have never been read by anyone, they are just taking some space in the hard disk.

I understand that fact that not everyone can use everything they are writing about. Some people just don't know anything, some just don't want to make any efforts, some are able to use some of those unused articles.

How about listing some very useful websites where you can sell your unused articles? Yes, straight away selling your articles, I am not talking about posting it somewhere and making money by getting views on it. Let's get to the point and see where you can sell the articles:

1. Constant Content - A great platform to sell all that you have not been using. There are plenty of buyers on Constant Content who are always looking for the articles which best fits their requirement. All you need is to post your articles, use good keywords, and get the sale.

2. Fiverr - Fiverr?? Really? You can create various gigs on your article niche and sell it on fiverr. There are thousands of buyers who would love to buy a relevant article at just $5. Though there are several other websites like fiverr which also provide the same service, but there is nothing effective than fiverr.

3. Own Blog/Website - You can create a list of articles (titles) and post it somewhere on your website or blog. This works great when you have good number of visitors on your website. It will  be an add on if you can mention the price so as to help the client taking the decision immediately.

4. Craigslist/Locanto/Other Classifieds - I know it sounds lame and down the level to post on classifieds about selling your articles, but trust me it helps. This works best when you have less cost articles to sell.

5. Article Sale - Article Sale is another website which works similar to Constant Content. Just create an account and sell your articles.

6. Elance or Odesk - Another good option where you can sell your articles. You can go with a common post for all your articles, or be specific to an article in each post. There are thousands of buyers who are always looking to get things done there. If your work fits their requirements, you get a sale.

7. Daily Article - Here is another marketplace where you can sell your articles.

8. Forums - If you are a person who would not mind posting on various forum discussions, it is going to work better for you. There are two things you can do here. First, you can share the links of your posts on other websites regarding selling the articles. Second, you can mention what you want to sell and see if anyone there is interested.

9. Freelancer - Freelance works on the same platform like Odesk and Elance. It is also effective in helping you selling the articles.

10. Facebook/Twitter/Other Social Networking Sites - Another awesome place to sell your articles. Just share the links/posts about your articles and see if anyone of your friends (friends of friends, others) show their interest.

I have always been able to sell my unused articles using all of these together. If you really want it to be effective and want to make it happen at the earliest, I would recommend you to try all 10+ websites I mentioned here.

Do post other relevant websites in comments, if you know of anything else.

How to make $1000 per day writing what you want? No Spam

It will surely be a dream come true for most of us if we will be able to make $1000 per day. That is $365,000 annually which is a gigantic figure. For my non-US readers, you can simply use this figure to calculate the figure in your currency.

As I have been promising you all again and again that this blog is no similar to any other blog, I will not be including anything which is impractical and fake. When I am mentioning this big amount earning, I want to make one thing very clear to all of you. It will definitely require a lot of time, dedication, passion, good content, and patience. It might not happen overnight, but it is very much possible in couple of months.

Let's see what all you will have to do to start making $1000 per day:

1. Google Adsense - Let me be very honest in saying that nothing works better than Google Adsense when we talk about any Advertisement Revenue Programs. Google Adsense does not allow you to use any similar program to be used on the website/blog parallel to one account. A good blog/website which is getting anything between 3,000 to 15,000 per day can make $25 to $100 based on the CPC,CTR. Having one blog/website where you update it once or twice a week is not sufficient in helping you make $1000 a day. It is always great to be having 3-6 blogs/websites and updating each one after the other. This way you can keep your blogs/websites updated, plus can multiply your earnings. Considering you have 5 blogs/websites with 10,000 visits per website per day, you can touch a figure of $500.

2. Selling your own ebook - If you are dedicated to writing, you should definitely try writing some ebooks for yourself. There can be two ways to earn out of it. First, you can sell your ebooks on websites like amazon and ebay. You can market/promote it on your websites, blogs, social networking sites, or on many other places and increase your sales. You can read my previous post 50 Best Websites To Sell Your Ebooks for more details. With an average of 10 sales a day (which is manageable) and selling price of $5 (taking the least figure), you will be able to make $50 per day. Apart from selling it online, you can get it published by a company and make sales from the hard copies too.

3. Youtube Videos - Am I wasting your time here? Not at all. Creating a Youtube channel and posting videos which can talk about your posts, ebooks, or anything else related to writing, can help you in self-promotion plus money. Just post videos, enable monetiation, and share with your friends. If you are getting something like 5,000 views daily, you can make approximately $50 per day.

4. Write for Websites/Blogs : Writing for approximately 3-5 hours in a day for other companies/clients/websites can help you make $150-$450 easily. If you are not sure of the website lists you can write for, do check our previous post 101 Best Websites To Make Money Writing Articles

After reading this post, it looks like an impossible task because if it is that easy, rest 6 billion people could make also tried it. Most of us cannot be dedicated and patient for this. I would want you to try working on it for couple of months and see. You will surely be able to touch that figure.

How much I am making from writing? Well! I am going to disclose that to all of you very soon. Maybe in couple of weeks :)

Feel free to share your experiences and earnings (if you wish to).
